This is to update all BI (Brand Inspector) readers about the recent correction that was made on BAU's website as a result of the error that we highlighted on the university's webpage, some days ago. This is a proof that the administrators of BAU website are flexible and ready to welcome reasonable corrections.

CARELESS DISPLAY/ADVERT OF TOBACCO ON BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO'S HOMEPAGE

The Nigeria National Tobacco Control Bill is a comprehensive law that regulates the manufacturing, advertising, distribution and consumption of tobacco products in Nigeria. The bill was passed sometime in 2009. It is intended to prohibit all forms of tobacco advertisements (direct or indirect), sponsorship and promotions, endorsements, testimonials or sales promotions. How would you relate the stipulation of the bill above to the display of tobacco products on the company's website http://www.batnigeria.com/ ? Don't you think this is a form of advert? Can someone please tell British American Tobacco to keep to the standard given by the Nigerian law? WHY ARE SACHET CONSUMABLE PRODUCTS NOT PACKAGED IN TRANSPARENT MATERIALS?

A friend of mine called to report to me few days ago that he went to a shop to get some bottles of alcoholic drinks (spirit) to help his wife who just gave birth to a baby… burn some fat.
